Book of letters written by J. Coleman Drayton that chronicle the scandal between himself and his estranged wife, Charlotte Augusta Astor. Drayton's letters are primarily to his lawyers, as they work out their separation and divorce. A few letters to his wife's lover, Hallett Alsop Borrowe, discuss a possible duel between the two men. Drayton also pens letters in French to his Aunt.
The last letters bound in the book were written by Henry C. Drayton.
On front of volume is a label, "Private No. 2/JCD/Begun Jan 1 1892 - to Jan 95/List made May 1907 - HCD to H et al"
The book has some water damage and is difficult to read, though possible.
