Scope & Content "A Wish Crostic-Wise" written by Thomas Greene for Maria Thurston, 1790

Mays't though my child, live long and see good days
And early learn true wisdom's pleasing ways
Regard thy parents' every just command,
Insure thy portion in the goodly land,
Avoid each snare that tempts thy Soul astray,
Temptations numberless beset thy way.
Hear inspiration's voice in every page.
Unerring truth preserve they youth and age,
Recieve each blessing Heaven itself can give,
Seek God with all thy heart and thou shalt live. Take up betimes thy cross at Jesus' call
On His free grace rely, and thou shalt never fall
Nor fail at last to win the prize prepared by the Great all,
even so Lord Jesus, Amen
